Desorber D85 for oil dewatering

Desorbers D85 from CJC® dewater your oil within a very short time – whether hydraulic oil, gear oil, lubricating oil, machining oil, leakage oil or hardening oil, and whether mineral oil or synthetic fluid. Installation in a separate off-line circuit or at a free-standing tank allows continuous oil dewatering, regardless of the operation of your machine. The CJC® Desorber D85 removes free, emulsified and dissolved water from the oil and minimizes the water content to < 0.01% – even with stable oil-water emulsions with a water content of up to 70%. Oil dewatering by desorption is also suitable for highly viscous oils and oils with high air content. It has no influence on additives.

Fact is,

Water in oil changes the viscosity and worsens the lubricating effect of the oil. In addition, water leads to premature decomposition of base oil and loss of additives. Acids, sticky deposits (varnish) and sludge form in the oil system and tank. Wear, corrosion, cavitation, and, if so, foaming oil endanger the machine parts. Water in the oil is also the perfect basis for bacteria, yeasts and fungi. The microorganisms spread, lead to bio-corrosion, and additionally complicate tank cleaning (health protection). All these factors shorten the service life of lubricant, components and machine.

Since even dissolved water in the oil can be released due to temperature and pressure fluctuations and is then initially emulsified, i.e. finely distributed in the oil, it is best practice to keep oils and fluids as dry as possible. Emulsified water is the most harmful water-in-oil state, as it circulates with the oil and unfolds its negative influences everywhere in the oil system.

Water in the oil is the second most common cause of failures and disturbances in an oil system.

Areas of application & installation example Desorber D85

Especially in the paper, steel, plastics and metal processing industries, as well as in maritime applications, there is a high risk of water entry into the oil systems due to environmental and process conditions.

Installation principle desorber d88, oil dewatering, oil-water emulsion separation, desorption

The pump in the oil inlet of the D85 desorber draws in the oil. In the desorber chamber, the warm, moist oil meets a counterflow of cold, dry air. The oil heats the cold air, which allows it to absorb a lot of moisture from the oil (system pressure constantly low < 2 bar). In a subsequent process, the warm, moist air cools down again, and the water condenses.

That say our customers

Hydrostatische Systeme

“I am completely satisfied with the investment. Oil drying takes place very quickly and without machine downtime. Thus, we keep the production stable, have time to look for the failure cause, avoid the oil change and waste oil disposal, and maintain the oil quality.”

Head of Maintenance, Liebherr Components

The Desorber works excellently in this application. I was impressed by the results and surprised how efficiently the Desorber dewatered the oil. The Desorber is easy to operate and is low-maintenance.”

Engineer, Quenching plant
gear oil maintenance, thruster, harbour tug

The CJC® Desorber allows us to operate the tug boat until the regular inspection in the dry dock in 6 months. The oil analysis results speak for themselves and substantiate the efficiency of the Desorber.

Gear oil filtration, thrusters, harbour tug

“It was only with the Desorber that the gear oil could finally be dried satisfactorily. Without CJC®, we would have had to change the 1,500 litres of gear oil soon. By avoiding the oil change, we were able to save EUR 4,890 (EUR 3.26/litre) – an important contribution not only in terms of budget but also in terms of resource savings. The excellent results convinced us, so we decided to purchase two identical Desorbers for our tug boats, “Bugsier 5” and “Bugsier 6”.
